Ethicall is a feature length documentary that will be made from many smaller videos, shot by you and other vegans around the world - a collaborative, global and ethical film. The goals are to celebrate veganism and its place in history, raise awareness for the cause and support the vegan curious population.
The word 'vegan' was first coined on 1 November 1944 in Yorkshire, England by Donald Watson (founder of the world's first vegan society, the UK Vegan Society) alongside his wife Dorothy. Its history is not without controversies, but Mr Watson was a humble man whose legacy becomes more profound with the passage of time. In 2024 World Vegan Day (1 November) will mark the society's 80th anniversary, which is when Ethicall will be released. It will be submitted to eligible festivals and possibly streaming services, but it will not be monetised; potential earnings will be reinvested into film festivals.
The filmmaker, Francesco Bori, is seeking a mixed demographic from around the world. Since Mr Watson was committed to plant-based health as well as ethics, whole-food plant-based (health focused) and transitioning folks (who are serious about embracing vegan principles) are welcome to participate.
