The Cancer Council of Victoria is currently seeking participants for a national research study examining how our genes, lifestyle, and environment contribute to our risk of developing cancer. Part of the study is looking into the effects of diet on the risk of developing cancer. The Australian Breakthrough Cancer (ABC) study is seeking a total of 50,000 volunteers and, as at the time of writing, they are close to reaching their halfway mark of 25,000.
Would you like to take part in the ABC study? It represents a key opportunity to scientifically explore the role of a whole food plant based diet in the context of cancer prevention.
What is required of you?
Eligibility requirements:
There is already good evidence that a whole food plant based diet is effective in reducing the risk of some cancers. For example, a recent report published in the Nutrition Journal, Dairy products intake and cancer mortality risk: a meta-analysis of 11 population-based cohort studies, links dairy products with increased prostate cancer mortality.
The ABC study welcomes supporters of Vegan Australia to participate. Vegan Australia encourages your participation, to ensure this important study has a good representation of people eating a whole food plant based diet. This is your exciting opportunity to contribute to the ever growing evidence of the healthful effects of this diet.
